Frances Cockburn graduated from University of Guelph with a double major in Computer Science
and Fine Art. She has been painting professionally since the mid-1990's.
Since then, she has shown her paintings in solo, two-person and group exhibitions. 
In early 2004 she and Charles Meanwell mounted a two-person show, Double Take,
at the Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery in Owen Sound.
The show was exhibited at the MacLaren Art Centre in Barrie in 2005.
In July of 2003 Cockburn was invited to an Artists Residency in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland.
In 2006, Cockburn was awarded an Ontario Arts Council Emerging Artist Award.
Frances Cockburn lives on the Sydenham river in Owen Sound with her husband Charles Meanwell and their six-year-old daughter.
